  1. My heart is breaking! this beach scene of East Point is different to when I lived there in a ‘Sydney Williams’ hut within feet of the sea as a squatter in January 1946. It looks as though dynamite was extensively used. The mangrove swamps have gone, so has the white sand. Nothing stays the same – just my memory of what was the most glorious place I have ever known. In 1946 it was known as Pee Wee Camp. There were 4 huts hidden from each other by jungle. The ‘Spain’ family lived in one hut; Doctor ‘McKenzie’ lived in another; and the ‘Allen’ family lived in another. Our hut, was the closest to the beach. The dirt track from Fannie Bay to East Point was covered over with an archway of very large Poinciana Trees, but I have no room here to write further, though I could write a book on it.
