Here at Panedia we produce gorgeous huge panoramic images for on & offline use. The work we do is usually viewed in the interactive panorama (Virtual Tour) format like you see at Panedia Maps, you’ve probably noticed the panoramas also lend themselves beautifully to computer wallpaper, particularly for multiple monitors.
While working on the panorama mapping system I’ve long had the goal of building what I hoped would be the best panorama photography wallpaper website on earth. Simple to use, not covered in ads (in fact no ads), all wallpapers available in every useful size (let me know if we’ve missed your size), in single, dual & triple monitor sizes for Mac and PC. I also wanted good image tagging to make finding what you’re after quick and easy ’cause there’s heaps of great wallpaper online if you care to spend ages wading through the rubbish… but who has the time? Let me know if you think I’ve been successful in my goal and what you’d like to see here in the future.
Interestingly I’ve discovered a new way to do wallpaper with this site…it’s WAAS, Wallpaper As A Service. I used to (like everyone else) horde images for my computer wallpaper in a folder where I could get at them when I needed them. But now I just jump on this site and grab an image as I need it using the ‘Set as Desktop background’ in FireFox, Safari or Internet Explorer. No need to horde images as they’re always available online for any computer I happen to be at, and in any size I could possibly need. Plus there are new images available every day, so I can choose new stuff, or head back and grab old favourites. (Hey there’s a cool new feature, a ‘favourites’ section for members to save their best wallpapers to, for even quicker access)
Each wallpaper is available in 16 sizes for single, dual & triple screen and is split into 130 separate images to provide all these sizes for you.
The panoramas are mostly shot in Australia at the moment, we hope to extend the coverage to other countries throughout 2008, while we’ll be adding further companion sites featuring the panoramas in different formats & mediums over the next few months.
